Meet the Coaches

Head Coach-Kyle Kinyon

Coach Kyle has been involved in swimming from the age of 5 with his local YMCA. He continued competitive swimming throughout high school and was named team captain his senior year. After high school, Kyle swam for Wayne State University where he was a part of the GLIAC championship team. Kyle began his coaching career in the Farmington area in 2012 and continues to work as the head coach of the Harrison-Farmington Thunderbirds and is also the assistant coach for The Farmington Phoenix. Kyle is looking forward to the opportunity to build on a great tradition at Beechview, bringing a philosophy that includes learning proper stroke technique, competitiveness, and overall team unity.  

Head Assistant Coach Rachel Paul

Rachel Paul is currently attending Oakland University where she is studying Nursing. She began swimming for the Beechview Breakers when she was 13 and right away fell in love with the sport. In high school she swam on the Harrison Girls Swim Team. Her favorite events were 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Rachel began her coaching career last year as the assistant coach for the Harrison Girls Swim Team and then assistant coaching the Harrison-Farmington Phoenix Boys Swim Team last year and this past year. Rachel is excited to be coaching at Beechview again. She is looking forward to helping younger swimmers learn to love this sport as much as she does and seeing all the progress everyone makes this summer while having lots of fun in the process. Go Breakers!

Assistant Coach Agustin Arbulu (Coach Tre) 

Agustin Arbulu swam for summer clubs such as Village Athletic Club (VAC) and Beverly Hills Athletic Club (BHAC). Agustin started swimming at BBA at 13 years old.  Agustin swam for Seaholm High School in which he was a varsity swimmer and a state qualifier. Agustin continued his career and swam for Notre Dame College and speciaized in freestyle.  Throughout his college career, his events included the 200, 500 and the 1650.  He graduated from Notre Dame College with a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology.  Agustin continued his education and received his Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) from Wayne State University.  Currently, he is a school social worker in Sterling Heights and teaches swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School.  Agustin has categorical experience.  For example, Agustin has experience working with children with special needs.  Agustin has taught swim lessons to different ages and ability levels.  Augustinis very passionate with working with children.

Fun fact, typically people refer to him as, "Tre," and or "Coach Tre."  Outside of coaching, Agustin enjoys working out, hanging with friends and family.  Agustin also forgot to mention that he is a Star Wars fan.
This will be Agustin's first year coaching coaching at Beechview.  Agustin not along brings a lot of experience but also he brings lots of enthusiasm, humor, and energy.  Not only does Agustin want each swimmer to succeed, but also Agustin believes that each swimmers also needs to have lot of fun in the process of swim team.  Please reach out to Agustin for questions or concerns.  Email is the fastest way to reach him, which is at arbulutre@aol.com.
 

 

Assistant Coach Clara

Clara is a student at Kalamazoo College where she is studying Spanish and Gender Studies. She started swimming when she was 5 years old at Orchard Valley Swim Club and has since swam for Woodbrooke Hills, Harrison High Girls Swim and Dive, and Thunderbirds Swim and Dive for which she was the captain her senior year. When she was in high school her favorite event was the 500 freestyle. Clara has swam under Coach Kyle and Coach Rachel during her swimming career and is very excited to join them as a part of the coaching staff this year. She hopes to bring her passion for team spirit and learning to the swimmers and is eager to watch the team grow as a whole over the summer!
